南平 真希 (Nagoya International School 1年)
Speaking of my experience in Tokyo, I'm excited to be a part of the first EGOI and this is my first time joining an international coding competition. I‘m privileged to have this opportunity to attend this significant event as a member of the Japanese team. Since I didn't grow up in Japan, it was challenging for me to deal with language comprehension, and it's also a chance for me to reflect on my coding skills. Thus, I will keep working on improving my language skills and C++ skills to achieve a better result next year.
It was unfortunate that we couldn't go to Switzerland due to the pandemic, so we had the online contests in Tokyo. There are pros and cons to attending a virtual competition. Luckily, jet legs are no more an issue to us, and our safety was protected during the pandemic. Also, having this event online allows us to meet female programmers from all over the world effortlessly. However, I felt exhausted during the contest process, and it's difficult for us to join some interesting social activities because of the time zone.
For the tasks, I felt extremely regretful for the tasks “Zeros” and “Luna likes love”. I made a few basic mistakes and had many misunderstandings on the language while finishing these tasks. “Twin Cookies'' was the most interesting problem I thought of in the whole contest. Since it was an interactive problem, and with a lot of random variables.
